Summary List Placement Customer relationship management company Freshworks has added another new addition to its C-suite as it eyes an IPO: Long-time software executive Stacey Epstein is joining the company as its chief marketing officer. Epstein joins as Freshworks targets $1 billion in annual revenue, said founder CEO and Girish Mathrubootham. The firm announced $300 million in annual 2020 recurring revenue in February despite the impacts of the pandemic, but hitting the next milestone will require ramping up marketing efforts, Mathrubootham said. “We started off primarily as a company with a lot of product-led growth and online acquisition — we have never actually invested a lot in marketing and brand building,” Mathrubootham said. Epstein’s arrival will change that. With a long career in marketing for customer service and CRM software companies, mostly recently as CMO and customer experience officer of ServiceMax, Epstein told Insider that her primary goal is “sharing this brand and the value of this solution with all of those companies that could really get value out of it.” Freshworks — which makes sales, service, and marketing software and counts Honda, Cisco, and American Express among its customers — has raised a total of $399 million, most recently at a $3.5 billion valuation in November 2019 .
